On 24 May 2011, one month after Bhagawavan Sri Sathya Sai Baba's Physical Departure, all members of all parties of the National Congress of Venezuela came together in unity, in unanimity and brotherhood, to acknowledge the Divine Glory of Bhagavan Sri Sathya Sai Baba, our Beloved Swami.  The Congress of Venezuela nobly rose to the occasion and issued the proclamation that is copied below. A scanned-in image of the original proclamation appears after its English translation. This is indeed a wondrous event. How often does any political body hold a unanimous vote?

 

NATIONAL ASSEMBLY OF THE BOLIVARIAN REPUBLIC OF VENEZUELA

As Speaker of the Sovereign People

AGREEMENT/DECLARATION ON OCCASION OF THE PHYSICAL DISAPPEARANCE OF THE SPIRITUAL LEADER OF THE REPUBLIC OF INDIA, SATHYA SAI BABA

CONSIDERING THAT

Last April 23, in the town of Puttaparthi, Republic of India, Sathya Sai Baba, one of the most important spiritual leaders of India, transcended the physical plane;

CONSIDERING THAT

The Government of India rendered homage to Sathya Sai Baba during the funeral services, declaring national mourning in recognition of His valuable contribution and spiritual importance for its people;

CONSIDERING THAT

The vast spiritual, cultural, social and philanthropic work of Sathya Sai Baba is undeniable, which includes charitable institutions of social solidarity, education and health, such as universities, specialty hospitals and countless charity services for the poor in India and abroad, including the “Unidad Educativa Colegio Valores Humanos” of the Sathya Sai Foundation in the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, located in the rural area of Abejales, municipality of Libertador, state of Táchira;

CONSIDERING THAT

Together with Mohandas Gandhi, Mother Teresa of Calcutta, and other spiritual leaders of His country, Sathya Sai Baba is considered a “Mahatma”, a great soul of India;

CONSIDERING THAT

There exist excellent spiritual, cultural, commercial, technological, and diplomatic relations between the people and governments of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela and the Republic of India.

AGREES/DECLARES

First.  To spiritually join the Government, the people of the Republic of India, as well as the Sri Sathya Sai Organization, on occasion of the physical disappearance of Sathya Sai Baba, an important spiritual leader of that sister nation.

Second.  Name a commission of representatives from the National Assembly to deliver a copy of the present Agreement/Declaration to the Ambassador of the Republic of India in the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, as well as to the board of trustees of the Sri Sathya Sai Organization of Venezuela.

Third.  Publish this Agreement/Declaration.

Presented, signed, and sealed in the Federal Legislative Palace, seat of the National Assembly, in Caracas, on the twenty-fourth day of May of two thousand eleven, 201st Year of the Independence and 152nd Year of the Federation.
